Citric Acid

Citric acid is a weak organic acid and can be used to lower pH. It's much gentler than the mineral acids (hydrochloric, nitric, phosphoric and sulfuric) typically used.

Citric acid, unlike mineral acids, won't affect your NPK ratio.

Citric acid can be used as a chelator. In soil applications citric acid will chelate the bound up insoluble micronutrients and make them available for uptake. So you can get more out of what's already there.

Because of it's organic, carbon-based nature, citric acid can act as a food source for beneficial microbes.
